Hello, We filled out the N-400 for my UK husband’s citizenship back in August, and checked the “Yes” box on Q16 “Have you ever been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer…” since he had received a speeding ticket (e.g. cited by a police officer). In the little table to explain the Yes answer, I wrote “traffic citation”, and as the outcome - “paid fine of $80″. Now, we just got a letter in the mail stating “You indicated that you have been arrested. For these arrests and any other incidents, bring copies of all arrest records and court dispositions showing how each incident was resolved.” Now we have this burden of proof to show he wasn’t arrested. I’m not even sure where to begin, since no such records even exist. I’m concerned if we show up with nothing, they’ll think we’re ignoring their request and being evasive. This is irritating since all we were trying to do is truthfully answer the question based upon the wording of the question to begin with. Also, this letter that arrived said to bring these records to our interview. We haven’t received any information about an interview time. Is it normal to receive this type of letter (sort of looks like a photocopy on yellow paper, not the fancy looking paper they usually send stuff on) before getting an interview date?
